Water Falls

Description

Acrylic on Canvas, 40″ x 16″

There’s a song that warns you not to go chasing waterfalls. Jaye disagrees. Go chase them, again and again, if that’s what it takes, until you’ve stood in front of so many that you start laughing every time another one appears around the bend. This piece holds that joyful excess, the eternity of water that never stops moving, never stops changing color, copper catching light differently depending on the hour, the angle, the mood of the day, and yet somehow always recognizably itself. A waterfall is proof that constant change and constant presence are not opposites. It is always different and always there, the same way hope is, the same way knowledge and love are, shifting shape but never actually leaving. Jaye painted that eternal motion, the kind worth chasing as many times as it takes.

The Contemplation: Sit with the piece and think of a dream you’ve been told not to chase, the one that keeps reappearing no matter how many times you set it down.
