Wordless companionship – simply sitting in the same stillness. A respite on high above the noise of human activity. The comfort of not being alone in the silence even when nothing is being said. This is what it means to do the work of Alchemy with another, not always speaking it, sometimes simply sitting in it together, trusting that you don’t have to find your way through alone. Eventually you have to come back down, but for this moment, suspended above the clouds together, nothing is required except each other’s presence.
Jaye painted that exact kind of rest, two people choosing quiet together, even knowing they’ll have to descend again.
