Big Inside, Big Outside
Description
Acrylic on Canvas, 40″ x 30″
There is a moment when everything around you feels enormous, change moving in from every direction, blues and greens shifting like Water, and you, right there in the middle of it, can feel impossibly small. This is real. The world is big and you are one small part of it, and there is no pretending otherwise. But smallness was never the same thing as insignificance. Right there in the center of forces far bigger than you, something in you can still stand up and say, look at me, I am here, I am part of this too. This piece is a celebration of that contradiction, the truth that you can be small in relation to the whole giant world and still be big inside, still matter entirely, still be exactly the kind of big that doesn’t need to be the biggest thing in the room. Jaye painted that center point, the place where being small outside and big inside turn out to be holding hands the whole time.
The Contemplation: Sit with the piece and notice where you feel small in your life right now. Ask whether that smallness has been quietly hiding how big you already are inside.
