It Is
Description
Acrylic on Canvas, 36″ x 48″
Black bleeds into white and white bleeds into black and somewhere in between, in the place where neither one is fully itself anymore, is the mystery. Not a problem to solve, not a question waiting for an answer, just the exact moment as it actually is, before we decide what it means or which side it belongs to. This is the Yin and Yang teaching at its most honest, not the symbol we recognize but the living reality underneath it, the truth that black and white were never truly separate, only two expressions of the same thing moving toward each other. We spend so much of life sorting, deciding, naming, making it right or wrong, this or that, good or bad. This piece asks you to stop for a moment and simply let it be what it is. Jaye painted that exact moment, the one before judgment arrives, when the mystery is still just the mystery and that is somehow enough.
The Contemplation: Sit with the piece and resist the urge to decide what color it is. Notice what it feels like to simply let something be exactly what it is, without needing to name it.
